Fireplace Renovation

Fireplace Renovation- this was a turn of the century fireplace in an old plumber’s workshop.  I had to realign the chimney stack, frame, insulate and board the surrounding wall, and obtain stone cladding, to look like an existing sandstone wall.  The mantelpiece and hearth were sourced from a local stonemason, to finish the look of the project.

Hallway Renovation

Hallway Renovation- this began as an old tiled floor and staircase, which was very cold and dark.  I created a new external door, with glass panels, to introduce light.  The floor tiles were lifted, joists with insulation and underfloor heating were fitted, with an oak floor on top.  We then made and fitted an oak staircase, to finish the effect.

Net loft conversion

Net Loft Conversion- this was a traditional fisherman’s net loft.  There were many aspects to this project, including exposing, sanding and varnishing the original beams, introducing velux windows, enlarging the existing window space, renovating the external door, framing, insulating and plasterboarding the walls, and fitting underfloor heating with Karndean flooring.

Fitted Kitchen

Fitted Kitchen- this used to be a bathroom!  After advising on the design of the kitchen, I removed a partition wall and fitted the kitchen, turning a small area into a spacious and well organised kitchen.  I also coordinated the attendance of the electrician to deal with the lighting and sockets and the plumber to deal with the gas and water appliances.

Underfloor Heating

Underfloor heating- creates a lovely overall warmth.  The system is thermostatically controlled.  As this was on a first floor level, the existing floorboards were first removed, insulation placed in between the floor joists, before the underfloor heating system was installed.  18mm marine ply with a Karndean floor was then laid on top.

Solid Oak Floor

Solid Oak Floor- my client wanted to modernise the look of their entrance hallway, using traditional materials.  I lifted the carpet and underlay, considered any necessary repairs to the underlying chipboard floor, before fitting the new solid oak floor with complementary white skirting boards.  This gave the hallway a rich, fresh, easily maintained look.
